This is only a few hours from me, so we drove down today to check it out. We got there early to take a few pics, within minutes a truck pulled up beside us and we were questioned up and down about wtf we were doing. Funny how you can go right in the front door of any other abandoned place, unquestioned. Show up to pay and they ask questions.

The tour guide was a little annoying at times, and I would have liked it much better if we were on our own going through the buildings, but I guess it's better than not seeing it at all.

Nice set!  Give me a shout next time you're in my neck of the woods.

The thing I really like about Weston (and all big Kirkbrides) is that no matter how many times you go, or picture you see, there is always something new each time.

Thanks!

I didn't know Ghosthunters did a show there (I never watch any of those shows) so I looked up the one filmed there. I watched some of it and it seemed rediculous. Grown men, yelling at empty rooms and threatening ghosts. I'm not exactly sure how he planned on kicking the shit out of something with no form or substance.

I made it through maybe 30 minutes of the 7 (yes, SEVEN) hour show. I saw the same woman who pulled up in the truck to see what we were up to. She's the general manager of the place according to the show. She talked about a patient that was killed by 2 other patients while the place was open. She told the story and showed a totally different room than what we were shown when the story was told on the tour. She also referred to ward f as being the ward that housed the most dangerous patients. We were told it was ward c.

The place IS amazing. I would go back to see it again. I just have no interest in the tour itself. I didn't in the first place. I'd like to get into the TB section. Does anyone know if it's doable or if they'll be opening it?

As far as I know the non-kirkbride buildings are kind or hit or miss.   It depends on the tour you take and the guide you have and how many other people are in your group.    I'd just call and tell them what you want to do and see if something can be worked out.

Great photos man as a kid I remember how haunted houses scared me imagine the wolfman jumping out of a room its enough to make grown adults scream. I bet this would be worth every penny and just think you could secretly sneak the fuck around go explore the place a little then come on back like nothing ever happened.

Haunted houses aren't what they used to be, not with the no touch rules. I remember they had one here at the legion, which sits behind a cemetery. While waiting in line, this kid in front of me who was all of maybe 6 years old kept teasing a guy dressed as Jason who was walking around. The guy came over and snatched him up, threw him over his shoulder, and ran off into the cemetery with him. You could hear him screaming as they ran all over, and he couldn't speak when he brought him back. The people inside would chase you, sometimes you'd get one who would literally follow you all the way through. They'd pick you up and carry you away while the rest of your group moved on.

The ones I've been to recently you just walk through a series of rooms, herded like cattle. Guy comes out with a chainsaw. Next room: girl on a lab table with various guts exposed. Next room: axe murderer.

im so glad I grew up in the 70's and 80's when everything wasnt so child safety. Haunted houses were insane back in the day

I guess these used to use a building at foxboro state hosp for a haunted house too in the late 80's

You got that right back in the day haunted house were the shit but now they have certain regulations they have to follow. As far as ghosthunters goes they can suck my dick sorry just venting. Tv shows about ghost are a joke on television it is nothing like what I do at all yet they got the public thinking this is how ghosthunting is. I am telling you a few days ago I had a nice close UFO sighting and a ghost sighting....I was hooting nor hollering...I just went off roading to check out a mill and some mines...and the rest fell into place.
